Recently one of my old colleague reminded me that a few years ago, we attended a meeting with a House of a great future project. At the time I had supervision MTV News Movies, meetings like those made me nervous because I wasn't very experienced yet in my work. Representatives of the movie House were excited an
My relationship with "Twilight," to be honest, sometimes I have weighed a lot, as it was for some actors. People will think that is a stupid pony? What will happen after the end of "Twilight"?!? I have other commitments, thankfully. I had the opportunity to prepare my muscles in a lot of areas outside the world populated by vampiri\lupi but there is still one "Twilight" and the fandom that I have witnessed cannot simply be copied. No, seriously.
The Hunger Games. Star Wars. Batman. All great. Twilight is and always will be on another level. No bigger. Nor does it better. There is simply more passion. Twilight fans feel this passion into the bones. We saw from the beginning. A few months before that meeting with Summit Entertainment, one of our reporters, Larry Carroll, was following the Sundance Film Festival. Asked Kristen Stewart, a talented actress best known for the film "Panic Room" by David Fincher, what were his next projects. Neither Larry nor I knew "Twilight" at the time, but we immediately took note of the impressive 25000 comments that the story has received. We started to grow even more this great phenomenon, helping the movie house with photos from actors ' debut, planning a visit on the set, and, finally, creating something called "Twilight Tuesday", distributing weekly tidbits (Editor's Note: spoilers) to a fandom that seemed to be growing exponentially.
I remember those first few months where I followed the franchise with great nostalgia. It was really something exciting for our small group at MTV News. We felt as if we had discovered something that most of the media world had somehow didn't know yet, (we give credit to those who have followed him, Entertainment Weekly as we at the time) and the fan response to what we were showing was impressive. We brought Rob and Kristen at their first MTV Movie Awards as presenters, not only through the carpet and show the first clip in our pre-show. We asked Rob to do a surprise a superfan in our offices. We held a mini-premiere for fans before the film came out. And then the movie came out in theaters and obviously everything has changed. This "secret" came out and ALL you avventarono above.
I interviewed the cast for the first time in 2010 (Yes, there were 50 interviews in less than three years). Larry had gone ahead and I felt increasingly at ease before the camera, so perfect timing. The fans of the series obviously wanted to know how it "really" cast. The answer, but absolutely true, is that they are real. You can love or hate Rob and Kristen's clumsiness but you can't doubt their sincerity. I saw these guys in and out of the screen and there are differences. And this was my first meeting with them, and it was the same Monday night when Rob told me that he thought that a bird had shit on him and Kristen who wanted to remove their shoes. Looking for ready-made response by talk show? Go ahead. Will this game.
I did just now my last interview for Twilight with all of them. No more punches on the chest with Taylor. No more incredible nonsense spoken by Peter Facinelli. No more old married couple bickering between Ashley and Kellan. I miss them all: the reflections series of Nikki, the devilish smile of Liz and the spirit of Jackson's sprawling capital. We went forward. My life will last longer than Twilight, as well as their own. Nothing has given me a greater pleasure to see each of them in new and not familiar contexts. Rob and Cronenberg. Kristen armor.
Ashley kissing Olivia Wilde. Ok, I spoke too.I had the best or the most difficult job in the world in recent years, depends on perspective. Twilight isn't for everyone. I know. And the truth is that if we do not do this work, probably I never appreciated the franchise and actors, contrarily to what I do. But for some reason, I've been lucky to have this place in the front row. And the ride was an absolute fun. Thanks, Stephenie.
